Aloha Sorensens- Volcanos

The post with all the volcano photos...

First trip to the national park on Sunday Feb 12 after church..
where we did nothing but see the visitors center...

Sunday Feb. 12 Biking to the Kilauea lava Fire-hose!
Derek went to each person seeing who would give us the best offer. Then we were off!

And yes, we saw lots of people go past the line and then get yelled at, and then people still crossed the line.

 So epic!
I totally fan-girled over it too..

Tuesday Feb. 14
Just Derek & I.
View of the Halema‘uma‘u Crater from the road while driving to the park.

It's more like under 3.5 miles according to my Garmin...
I love monkey tails..

Those white marks? Yeah that's steam...

View of the Halema‘uma‘u Crater from the trail.

 It's like a lava goblin...

 Lava this guy!
A cinder cone INSIDE a crater.. it's like a volcano inspection!
It was valentine's day...

Steam vent...

Now on the other side to climb back up..
Yup. We hiked across that.

The sounds.. oh the sounds!!!

It's like a little creature...

After the crater trail we stopped to do this one but it was closed, we only got a half mile in.

Volcano crater Derek remembers visiting with his family the last time they were here.

The lava flow as seen from here.

It's on this post because it was at the end of the chain of craters road in the park.

 Sea turtles...

Random lava formations and lava trees coming back up the road

Friday Feb. 17 (Post Derek)

Friday Feb 17 (Post Derek)

Tried to capture the depth of this crater.. those are steam vents down below.

There were many other hikes I wanted to do with Derek in the park... guess just him & I will have to go back :)
