Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle #1) by Christopher Paolini
Pgs. 503
When I read some reviews of this series, a lot of people kept whining that Paolini ripped off of Lord Of The Rings.  I had a hard time trying to make the connection that they did other than both stories have humans, magic-ish, elves, and dwarfs, as well as great responsibility thrust onto a young person to help destroy something evil (Spider-Man had that too though). In The Hobbit there was a dragon, but he was a bad guy... I haven't read any of Mr. Tolkien's books other than the first few chapters of The Hobbit, so I guess I can't really make any connections or non-connections to his stories. I guess technically you can pick apart any fantasy book & say that they're ripping off of Tolkien...

Eldest (The Inheritance Cycle #2) by Christopher Paolini
Pgs. 668
I liked this book more than the first, even though Eragon was a tad too whiny this time around.  It spends 2/3 of the book talking about Eragon's training, which I'm sure is super needed to defeat the bad guy, but was rather dull.  His cousin, Roran, leads his village to the Varden so there's where all the battle action is. LOTR comparison: granted I'm comparing to the movie version of The Two Towers, but, you've got a human pining after an elf, a human leading a village to another spot for safety, and a male still on a quest to defeat evil (although very slowly in the book's case since Eragon is basically training and Frodo kinds just took off & walked a lot...

Ten Discoveries That Rewrote History by Patrick Hunt
Pgs. 240
Little bit hard to read in the sense that the discoveries are widely known discoveries.  I did find myself looking up YouTube documentaries on the discoveries. I picked this up at the library sale last year and it's not breaking my heart to put in my donation pile.  Quick read, not well written, and not a keeper.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Pgs. 374
I really enjoyed this book.  Had nothing to do with dragons, elves, or that kind of fantasy besides the fact that it's an online game-verse where people's avatars could be such things.  But those were never given much attention.  It was suspenseful even though you could predict the outcome.  Very heavy on the 80's that I even had to look up such things to see if it was legit 80's or not.  Little guy conquers the evil giant and wins the girl in the end, good stuff.

The Calling (A Hunter's Oath #1) by Brittany Vandehei
Pgs. 171
So one of my friends wrote this book & I'm all about supporting my friends so I bought a copy and just now finally got around to reading.  The story has a lot of potential, just poorly carried out and thrown together. Sorry Britt, but this book was really, really, rough.

He's Just Not That Into You by Greg Behrendt
Pgs. 165
Another book from last year's library sale I picked up at the $1 bag sale. I figured I enjoyed the movie, might as well see if the book was just as funny. And it was funny, for the first few pages, and then it just got repetitive.
