S.P.A.M.

Bonneville Cross-Country Camp Aug 11-12, 2017

After a key workout and breakfast burritos, we headed up to the Environmental Center for an overnight camp. Not all the kids were able to make it but we still had a lot of fun with the 16 kids who did.

 Archery.

 More team building.
 Going backwards.

 Jumping.

Water bucket game.. you hold the bucket with your feet and everyone on your team has to take off both of their shoes. Fastest time wins.

 Another water bucket game.

After dinner Coach Chick Hislop came to talk to the kids.
He talked about his book On Track that the kids have read.
And most importantly he talked about...
S.P.A.M.
Super
Positive
Attitude
Mentality

Then we finished off the night with some ping-pong and yoga.

Saturday morning we got the kids up early for an 8 mile trail run.  It was a little muddy from the night's thunder storm but of course it didn't bother the kids.
 Made some team posters.

After lunch we talked about goal setting and met with each athlete.
Then more ping pong (seriously, that was their favorite thing to do).
Then some minute to win it games while waiting for parents to come pick up.

Man I love these kids!!!

July 2017

Saturday July 1
Mini family service day in our backyard.
It started because Tyler & Kris wanted to hang out and we told them we had a lot of yard work to do. They said they'd come help so we could play faster.  My dad and Austin also came to help.
Ragnar was supervisor.  She inspected all the sticks and branches as they were cut down.
Austin was king of climbing the trees.  We created a new verb: "Mowgli-ing it"

So much more got done than what we were hoping for! We now just have to finish hauling it all off.
Afterwards.. we went to do an escape room, then pretzels, swimming, and then movie with fried pickles at their house.
Happy Canada everyone!

Wednesday July 5
Took the Nelson girls to the Ogden Nature Center for a patriotic Wild Wednesday.
This guy did NOT disappoint! He's an amazing story teller and was so interactive.  I do enjoy the lady but I think this guy is my favorite!
I just love the different looks an eagle can give.

Hung up some stuff.. which has lead to some passive-aggressive staring from Ragnar.

 Read-a-ton book win!

Elise helped me and my dad take the doggies to the river.
She walked Ragnar, who was really good and didn't pull just walked slow next to Elise.

Derek was too busy to notice this...

Derek went backpacking to finish off the last part of the anti-dog mountains in SLC.
Ragnar was not pleased.

But I made it up to her when we went to pick Derek up.
We left early so we could hike around and lucky dog found many animals to chase and be happy again.
But not enough cuteness could get Derek to share his fries.

July 30
And this goofy-ness.
