February 2019

The month of February 2019

Friday February 1.
First Friday Art Stroll and Yeti Bash complete with yoga and ax throwing.
I love this winter tradition although I don't love how they've moved it to this little area.. closing off the block had so much more room.
 Root beer floats and s'mores.

My friend Amanda joined me and we got us some Ogden hats at the Winter Fest market. This was the first year they held this with the bash.

Shark. At a jewelry store.. a super fancy jewelry store.

 Vegan protesters.

Saturday February 2.
WSU hockey game.
My dates for the evening.
 Plus Kristy's family.
The boys got into it when the aggression kicked up. My dad was trash talking too, it was a riot!

So I was teaching land forms in science when this was taken and I told the kids that they can design their islands however they wished. One student asked if he could draw an alien. I suggested why not have his spaceship crash into a palm tree and he can be working on his tan on the beach. And he did it.. laughing hysterically the entire time that I thought he might suffocate from lack of breathing. I'm going to miss this kid when he graduates in May. He's the reason why so many of my lessons have a random ET or Mona Lisa photo... and why I have a mini alien lesson in our space section.

Friday Feb. 9
The HOSA club was doing a fundraiser as a blood drive. If they met their goal of 40 units then their club would get an extra $200. They were also giving out coupons for free ice cream.. a pint for a pint.
Of course I was down for it.
Megan struggled, she almost passed out.

When your friend's dad has been telling you for years to "run from your car into the house and vise versa at night".. his reasons are valid.. We've seen bobcats in the trees before but this is a much bigger cat.

Valentines Day.
Since I didn't have to go up to Idaho for Simplot Games for the day, Ragnar and I drove down to SLC to have dinner with Derek. In my car.. Ragnar has laser focus on the food.

My last Simplot Games as a coach...
I drove a car full of kids and they set up their gaming in the back and played the whole way up and down. Going up we only hit a scary part of the winter storm by Malad, however on the way back home it was scary all the way down. We lucked out and a snow plow got on the highway in front of us. We passed by at least 15 cars that had slid off the road. People were traveling way to fast for the icy conditions.
Nate. Kate. Damien, Jorge.
We sat by Davis High and Ogden High.. Hope used to run for us before moving.
Our hearts go out to the Davis team with the passing of their teammate.
Hope. Kate.

Jorge wanted to try lifting everyone up over the railing.

The next day after the huge snow storm..
That sound of running on fresh powder that hasn't been packed down yet..

Presidents Day
Elise had been asking for me to take her treasure hunting. Just me and her, no Madi, no grandma. So we went down to Farmington and found a bunch along the Lagoon trail, she was pretty excited to be by Lagoon.

Some of the caches were a little tricky because they just a magnetic screw!
Of course we needed ice cream shakes and fries to refuel.

Bryn turned 10! She picked Mcdonalds for dinner and ice skating... and then bonus Krispy Kreme doughnuts afterwards.

Jessica S. baby shower.. Fiesta themed with nacho bar!

 Tara and I.

Jessica was so excited for this towel.

Arizona Christmas 2018

Christmas in Arizona 2018

Not too much happened on this trip but it was still fun nonetheless.
Driving down we did some geocaching, when it wasn't snowing. We were lucky to have missed the big snow storm but unlucky that we made it out before the snow plows came out but then lucky again that we were the only ones on the road so we were able to move faster.  We wanted to stop and hike toadstools but Derek was still pretty exhausted so we that got nixed.

Introduced them to geocaching. It was a little slow at first but once we found the cache it was a different ball game. Plus we found scorpions so bonus!

Took a walking break one night and tried to find another cache just down the way from their mailbox but it was dark and we couldn't find it.

Found this cache about a mile walk from their house.

Most of the time was spent playing games.
Jane was on fire with her commentary, it was a riot!
 Minecraft.
VR gaming.

Thanks to the government shut down, we didn't get to do the adventures we wanted to, so this was as far as we got with one park.  There's always next year.
